Hikes for families

Over Hill and Stone

Looking for family hikes in Samnaun? We are happy to describe three hikes here that are also well suited for children. Discover Samnaun with your kids with its wonderful nature in the middle of the magnificent mountain world of Graubünden. The offer is varied - see for yourself!

Fairy Tale Trail

(easy, 2.7 kilometres, 71 metres ascent, 71 metres descent)

The marmots Murmin and Murmina wake up from their hibernation and have to go out into the big wide world to save their family. In the process, the two experience some adventures...

Wonderful views of the mountains of the Samnaun group accompany the hikers, who are on a well-maintained forest path (suitable for prams). By the way, it is worth packing a snack. Shortly before the end (at Adlerflug), for example, you can take a break. If you continue along the path a little further, you will reach the Maisasbach stream - here it is also cosy and many cairns can be built...

Lake Hike

(easy, 5.5 kilometres, 219 metres ascent, 311 metres descent)

The hike begins at the mountain station of the double-decker gondola (Alp Trida Sattel). Up to point 2423, the hike leads along the road. Then continue straight on, under the two chairlifts and over the bike trail. Soon the trail passes the first small lake, in which the mountain panorama around Alp Trida is reflected in calm conditions. At point 2438, turn left up towards the plateau "Bei den Seen". Several small lakes and numerous large rocks invite you to take a rest. Take the circular route back to point 2438 and from there take the same route back to the mountain station of the double-decker gondola.

Piz Motnair

(medium, 9.7 kilometres, 900 metres ascent, 900 metres descent)

Piz Motnair lies above Samnaun and offers a wonderful 360° view of the surrounding peaks, over the Samnaun valley, Val Maisas, Val Sampuoir and Zanderstal. The hiking trail begins with a leisurely ascent along a forest road, crosses the inner forest to Motta Saltuorn and leads over Salantinas. There the resting benches, with a wonderful view of Samnaun Dorf, invite you to take a first rest. Then the steep ascent towards the summit begins. The descent follows the same route as the ascent.

This hike is particularly suitable for older children who already have sufficient hiking experience.
