Easy hikes

and walks

Enjoy the lush greenery, the colourful flower meadows and the soothing mountain air on an easy hike or a beautiful walk in the Samnaun valley. Or drive up to the Alptrider Sattel, let your gaze wander over the Alps and enjoy the unique view.

Culture Trail

(easy, 6.0 kilometres, 90 metres ascent, 270 metres descent)

The culture trail begins at the end of Samnaun-Compatsch (PostBus stop Samnaun-Compatsch, Dorf). The well-maintained forest path begins leisurely ascending and leads along various exhibitions and citations in the direction of Zanderstal. Soon a beautiful view of neighbouring Spiss and the Muttakopf opens up, from now on it is mostly downhill. The culture trail ends at the Malfragbach stream, where you also cross the national border. After about one kilometre, you cross the Zandersbach stream and leave Austrian territory again. Along the Zandersbach you reach the bus stop Spissermühle, where a PostBus leaves every hour back towards Samnaun Dorf.

Plant Trail

(easy, 5.0 kilometres, 347 metres ascent, 347 metres descent)

There are over 900 plant species in Samnaun. The plant trail, which leads to the Chè d'Mot lookout point, presents some of these plants on 28 information boards.

The hike can be started directly from the Hotel Nevada in Samnaun or from the PostBus stop "Samnaun-Ravaisch, Dorf". The hike leads clockwise up the panoramic hill with the four striking cable car masts. Downhill it goes along a field path via Tschidanaderet, past the "Gonda" cairns typical of Samnaun to Salatsch and back to Samnaun-Ravaisch.

Samnaun Valley Hike on the South Side

(easy, 4.1 kilometres, 60 metres ascent, 145 metres descent), also possible in the opposite direction

The valley hike along the south side to Samnaun-Laret starts directly at the Hotel Nevada in Samnaun Dorf. Behind the Hotel Chasa Montana, a bridge leads over the Schergenbach stream. The trail initially leads along the stream. After a short while, the trail branches off to the left to reach the Pra da Tea larch forest on a slight incline. The trail continues through the village of Samnaun-Ravaisch. After the chapel, the hiking trail turns left. Across the pastures of Muttauna you reach the Salaaserbach stream and then Salatsch, where there are two modern stables. Parallel to the little road, the panorama trail leads towards Samnaun-Laret and then through the old village centre of Samnaun-Laret. You can return to Samnaun Dorf on foot along the Schergenbach stream or by public transport.
